History of an Investment Advisor Representative
When I grew up in South Central Kansas, becoming a financial advisor was the last career choice on my mind. Many years, a family, and a move to Albuquerque later, I stumbled into a job that became a career and a life’s mission. In the summer of 2008, I earned my first securities license and then watched as the market fell off a cliff and negatively changed people’s lives in just a matter of weeks. Do I have great timing or what? A year later, I moved my family home to Kansas and began working on my second career as a college English Professor.
Education is Everything
People ask me why I’d go through all that time and expense to earn a Master's degree and then no longer use that education. In reality, I’m still using my education just not in the traditional manner. I educate people about investments and all things retirement. While today’s books and websites opportunity for learning are significantly more than 20 years ago when I started, the confusion and misinformation has grown just as much and often serves to muddy the waters rather than make it clearer. Meaningful education is invaluable for investors. This is especially true of retirement portfolios.
Helping People Live Their Best Retirement Life
There is no one-size-fits-all investment plan for your post-work life. Every situation is different. Even if your sources of income are exactly the same as everyone you know, that doesn’t mean your current or future income needs are exactly the same as others. My desire is to assess your income needs and compare that to your current plan of investments. Sometimes it isn’t the most pressing need. I take a look at your estate plan, various types of insurance, and tax situation to determine any gaps in your overall plan. The amount of money in your various accounts doesn’t matter. Everyone deserves the opportunity to have the life they’ve dreamed of for years. You have worked hard all your life to get to this moment and deserve an investment professional who can keep an eye on your accounts while you get on with your life of doing what you want, on your terms.
